After launching new top of the line variant with Activa 6G, Honda has now launched the same with Activa 125

Honda is the undisputed sales leader in the scooter market. Honda's golden goose, with 1.74 lakh units sold in February 2023 alone. Although that figure is impressive, it could have been higher. Rivals such as the TVS Jupiter, Suzuki Access, and new electric scooters are gradually catching up. Honda is expanding its scooter portfolio by taking a holistic approach and expanding the feature set of its Activa line. The H-Smart variant of the Activa 6G is already available, and Bluetooth connectivity and a full digital instrument cluster will be available soon. A similar approach was used with the Activa 125.

Honda has today launched the Activa 125 Smart variant. It costs Rs 88,093 ex-showroom Delhi. It costs about Rs 10,000 more than the entry-level Activa 125, which costs Rs 78,920. Honda's proprietary technology, H-Smart, enables keyless entry. It is considered a lot safer than a conventional key as it gets an immobilizer chip inside it as well. This ensures that a generic key won’t be able to trigger ignition unless constantly changing codes generated by on-board chip, matches that of the codes generated by its new H-Smart key.

Honda will include a smart key with functions like Smart Find, Smart Unlock, Smart Safe, and Smart Start as part of this package. Smart Locate makes it easier to spot in a parking lot by allowing customers to remotely switch on indicators if they are within 10 metres. If a user is within two metres of the vehicle, Smart Unlock enables them to unlock the boot and fuel lid. Moreover, there is Smart Secure, which enables the scooter to lock itself automatically if the key is lost (2 meters). It was also possible to disable this function inside the key. The Honda Activa 125 can be started by the rider touching the start button if a key is within two metres, which brings us to Smart Start.

Other Modifications Aside from the H-Smart key, the Honda Activa 125 has been updated to meet the upcoming mandatory BS6 phase II emission norms. Other features include real-time fuel consumption, average mileage, and distance to empty. Aside from that, there are no other changes. The 124 cc single-cylinder 2V head petrol engine with a CVT will be retained. This swingarm-mounted engine produces 8 bhp and 10.3 Nm of torque. Honda is now preparing to launch the electric Activa.
