1.3 lakh people were assisted by the real-time recovery of Rs 235 crore that was stolen by online crooks - Amit Shah

New Delhi - Jamtara may have garnered attention as the nation's epicentre of cybercrime, but research conducted by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C) on cases submitted over the past few months via the toll-free helpline "1930" and national cybercrime reporting portal reveals that online financial fraud is now a decentralised phenomenon with Mewat, Azamgarh, Ahmedabad, Alwar, Surat, Bharatpur, Chittoor, Dhubri, Goalpara

Real-time solutions to combat this new development are now available thanks to the I4C, which was established in January 2020 by Home Minister Amit Shah to address cyber crime in a coordinated and all-encompassing manner. Anyone can report cyberfraud as it occurs by calling the "1930" helpline

The onboarding of over 250 banks and financial intermediaries helps with "real-time action," such as limiting fraudulent funds and marking money for liens. Home minister Amit Shah briefed the media on Tuesday after inspecting the I4C's cyber security infrastructure and operation at its headquarters here. As a result, more than Rs 235 crore that had been stolen by hackers from more than 1.33 lakh people up to that point had been recovered.
